18. The Everlasting Long Treebeard’s Baguette
When you are expecting a large group of guests, it’s always better to cook the Baguette. Just like Treebeard it’s very long and has a bark-like crust and tough texture. You can make this bread with just four Ingredients, and it will go well with any gravy. Here are the steps to cook this bread.
Ingredients
16 oz of bread flour
1 ½ tbsp of dry yeast
20 oz of warm water
Salt
8 oz of cool water
Some extra flour for dusting
Serving Size: 10
Preparation time: 30 mins
Cooking time: 40 mins
Resting time: 1 ½ hour
Instructions
1. In a small bowl, put the yeast in warm water and keep it aside.
2. Add salt to the flour and make a hole in the middle.
3. Pour in the yeast mixture and mix gently.
4. Add the cool water slowly until a shaggy dough is formed.
5. Cover the dough with a plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 mins.
6. Now put the dough on a flour-dusted surface making a rectangle while folding into thirds.
7. Fold the dough 90 degrees and repeat the process.
8. Grease a large bowl and place the dough covered so it rises to double its size.
9. You have to divide the dough into 4 equal parts.
10. Give it a shape of a long loaf with sharp ends.
11. Again cover the dough with oiled plastic wrap and rest it for 45 mins.
12. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
13. Place a pan of water on the bottom rack to create steam.
14. Make 4 long slashes on the baguettes.
15. Bake it for 40 mins until it gets a golden-colored crust.
16. Your baguette will sound hollow when tapped.
